The tech layoffs and impending recession has hit the world like a ton of bricks, and with the number of job losses expected to increase, you must protect yourself from its impact on your career and personal life. 1. Upskill Yourself - A No Brainer, right?

It is important to be proactive and avoid following a herd rushing to just a trending skill. Before starting to invest yourself in learning a new skill, ask yourself these questions:

Q. Can I leverage this with my existing skillset?
Q. Will this help me in moving towards my dream industry or work?

3. Portfolio - Your Best Resume

Even celebrities have a PR team, So make sure you get a plan to market yourself. You mastered new skills and worked on open-source projects still the work is half done, (Why) because the market doesn't know this, "Yes, yes you posted it on LinkedIn" but it is not a documented form.
So Build a portfolio that will highlight your projects and skills.
Your best resume is Your Portfolio. This will demonstrate your expertise too.

5. Adapt & Adjust - Being Resilient

Many aspects are unpredictable and beyond your control, therefore you must be ready to persevere through adversity. Be patient with the new skills, even the master was once a beginner. You will have to be adaptable to new workplaces and responsibilities.
Be flexible and open-minded if things don't go your way. Once the storm passes you can get on top of the situation (You can do it, You are adaptable remember?)
